“Notebook people: give me your ideas”
At our first Practicum program in 2014, teacher Jeremy Dickstein wrote this six-word story about why he joined the I-Think community. Notebook people are the curious, generous and relentless ones you want to learn with.
This one is for you
We wrote this notebook because teachers and leaders asked us to. They kept saying that they wish they had someone from the I-Think and I-Think Mentor teams on speed dial. They wanted a reminder and advice on best practices. That’s this Notebook.
When we started working on this, we called it a Facilitator’s Guide. After feedback from I-Think Mentors, we realized it would be helpful if you could use it over and over again and make it your own.
For us, that’s a notebook.
When we looked at the resources teachers used most often, they were dog-eared, crammed with scribbles and sticky notes—and often marked with a few coffee stains. (We already made one for you on page 4!) We designed this notebook so you can do that. We hope you’ll use this notebook for years to come.
There are 2 sections to this notebook:
The first section is this welcome section. It shares the underlying theory of Integrative Thinking and related tools and processes we will be using.
The second section is an overview of the Real-World Problem Solving Journey and for each stage of the journey it includes instructions, checklists, planning tips, facilitator notes and space for you to capture your learning.
