Gifts in Wills and Estates

Making a gift in your Will is simple and you still retain control of your assets. You can bequeath cash, securities, property or even a percentage of your estate. Your estate receives a charitable tax receipt that can decrease (or even eliminate) estate taxes.

  • There are many advantages. Your gift will have a meaningful impact to help future generations. You can make a larger gift than might otherwise have been possible in your lifetime. And a gift in your Will can help you achieve tax and financial goals.

  • Yes, you simply need to specify in your Will that you wish to remain anonymous. I-Think will respect the gift as well as your wish for privacy and will not disclose your identity.

  • At I-Think, we believe that everyone should have a Will, and it's important to prepare it with the guidance of both a lawyer and a financial advisor. Including a charitable gift adds a few minutes to those conversations and just a few sentences to the will. Please ensure you specify I-Think. Our Charitable Registration number is 743105512 RR 0001.

  • Yes, there are many online services that allow you draw up a simple Will. We always recommend discussing any financial decisions with your financial advisor and/or lawyer.

  • Yes, there are many financial vehicles available for making larger charitable contributions, including Charitable Remainder Trusts, Gifts of Life Insurance, Charitable Gift Annuities, and more. We recommend you speak to your Financial Advisor to discuss the most advantageous and appropriate way to make your charitable gift.

  • Yes, once the gift is received, I-Think issues an official tax receipt for the donation to the estate.

  • Talk to your financial advisor to determine which investments will make the most philanthropic and financial impact to you. Contact us directly and then instruct your broker to transfer your securities directly to I-Think. Receive a charitable tax receipt.

    Upon receipt of the transferred securities to I-Think’s account, we will issue a charitable tax receipt based on the closing market value of the shares on the day they are received in our account.
